To Newburn

The plan for the morning was to visit the Segedunum Museum at Wallsend before setting off on the walk. Unfortunately, thunderstorms over the weekend had caused some flooding there, and we arrived to find it temporarily closed - but at least we were able to stamp our Guidebook with their official stamp of having visited.
After that, this part of the path doesn't actually follow Hadrian's Wall at all, but is more of a walk along the Tyne through Newcastle. The industrial past is evident along the river, as are more modern businesses.
After a big breakfast, we had thought there would be a nice coffee stop somewhere along the riverside in central Newcastle, but found mostly cocktail bars and pubs: not really what we wanted. After passing out of the city, we managed to stop at Liosi's Cafe, a little more of a meal than we had anticipated, but good value!

More industrial buildings followed, until we reached out destination for the night at Keelman's Lodge. After recent weather forecasts of the ending of warm days, it had been a surprisingly warm and sunny walk.
